Welcome!
My name is Ágnes Portik. I am a psychologist and a couple and family therapist in training.
In my couple and family therapy work, I apply the Gottman Method, which offers a scientifically based approach to strengthening relationships and addressing relationship difficulties.
My goal is to help couples who turn to me develop better communication, resolve their conflicts, and strengthen their bond. I believe that every couple is capable of change and growth if they receive the right support and tools.
If you feel that you would like to work together with me on your relationship, I look forward to hearing from you!
According to the Gottman Method’s perspective, every couple deserves a harmonious and loving relationship, regardless of gender, identity, or religious affiliation. In my work, I welcome all couples in an open and accepting environment who wish to achieve deeper relational understanding, improve their communication, and strengthen their emotional bonds.
My aim is to create a safe and supportive atmosphere where everyone can work authentically on their relationship challenges.
Sessions are 90 minutes long and take place in the 11th district of Budapest or online.
Usually couple therapy takes a half year to a year.
Price: 30000 Huf/ 90 minutes

I also welcome individual clients

As a psychologist, I work with psychologically healthy adults who are facing various life challenges and are seeking to be more conscious, balanced, and present in their everyday lives. My clients often reach out to me with issues such as managing anxiety and stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, coping with divorce or breakups, and the complexities of parenthood.

In my work, I deeply believe that meaningful change begins with unconditional acceptance, authentic presence, and genuine empathy. It is important for me to create a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can allow themselves to be vulnerable, to express doubts and uncertainties, and to gradually work toward a deeper understanding of themselves.

My professional approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), with a strong focus on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

DBT is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals regulate intense emotions, strengthen impulse control, and build more effective interpersonal skills. It emphasizes emotion regulation, mindfulness, crisis management, and the development of assertive communication. DBT is particularly helpful for those who experience strong emotional reactions, find it difficult to cope with stress, or often struggle with interpersonal conflict.

ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) supports individuals in learning how to accept difficult emotions and focus less on avoiding discomfort, and more on taking meaningful actions aligned with their personal values. Rather than aiming to eliminate symptoms, ACT helps increase psychological flexibility, enabling clients to better navigate life’s challenges while moving toward a life that feels purposeful and authentic. Key components of ACT include mindfulness, changing one’s relationship to thoughts, and committing to value-driven actions.

I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, and that even the most difficult life experiences can offer opportunities for meaningful change — not always easy, but always valuable.
